He [God] spoke and galaxies whirled into place, stars burned in the heavens, and planets began orbiting their suns – words of awesome, unlimited, unleashed power. He spoke again and the waters and lands were filled with plants and creatures, running, swimming, growing, multiplying – words of animating, breathing, pulsing life. Again he spoke and man and woman were formed, thinking, speaking and loving – words of personal and creative glory. Eternal, infinite, unlimited – He was, is and always will be the maker and Lord of all that exists”. (Introduction to John. NIV. LAB)
THE ARTIST’S THOUGHTS ON CREATION
The story of the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve is the greatest story ever told, it appeals to both young and old. A wonderful story of the beginning of humans and earth. I am in awe of God and the magnificent earth He created. Science has taken creation and turned it into something complex, which has been questioned to death, and will be until the end of days. I take it for what it is, based on the truth of God’s Word. Whether God created earth in 7 days or 7 million years, He undoubtedly set His magic into place with His WORDS that would form the world and all of its landscapes, the great universe, creatures great and small and of course, mankind. I do not believe that scientists will find the answers to everything. God is entitled to hold something back, he cannot give us all the answers. He has released information at his discretion throughout history and I am sure that He has His reasons for not revealing all. I do not question, I just believe. He is the almighty God after all! The Word reveals the simple truth, and God is truth.
“This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings,
And round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong
Seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.”
— Maltbie D. Babcock (1858-1901), pastor and preacher.
A thought to ponder:-
‘God has permitted a flood of light to be poured upon the world in discoveries in Science. But even the greatest minds, if not guided by the Word of God, become bewildered in their attempts to investigate the relations of science and revelation. Human knowledge is partial and imperfect, therefore many are unable to harmonize their views of science with Scripture. Many accept mere theories as scientific facts, and they think God’s Word is to be tested by ‘science falsely so called’. Because they cannot explain the Creator and His works by natural laws, Bible history is regarded as unreliable. Those who doubt the Old and New Testaments too often go a step further and doubt the existence of God. Having let go their anchor, they beat about on the rocks of infidelity’. – The Great Hope.
Finally, a note from the Bible (NIV)
