Mount Zion

I have been working on this series of paintings and poems for six months, and my excitement is rising, because this task is almost finished! I have one more place of spiritual abundance to complete. This post features the 6th Place of Spiritual Abundance, i.e., the painting and poem about Mount Zion. All the previous spiritual places have been posted on this site already.

All I can say at this stage is what an amazing journey I have been on, and it is not over yet!

MOUNT ZION

(6th Place of Spiritual Abundance)

Delivered from the slavery of Egypt, they came to Zion,

singing praises to Yahweh for all He had done.

God blessed the chosen in all their endeavors,

and ensured the flocks and crops reaped rich harvests.

King David, beloved of God, yet a man of war,

envisioned a temple in the heights of Zion,

yet God commanded him to abstain from the project,

the sanctuary was to be erected by a man of peace: David’s son.

Solomon built the temple during his reign,

a glorious place to praise God for His grace.

While the people were obedient to God’s ways,

provision and peace were maintained every day.

Over time, the people rebelled and turned from God,

certain, offering their children to demigods.

Their hardened hearts puffed up with pride and rebellion,

choosing the curse and foregoing the blessing.

Sin and idol worship consumed the fabric of their lives,

ultimately, they were killed or captured by their enemies.

Yet God was faithful and kept His covenant with the Fathers,

ensuring a remnant of the people were saved by His mercy.

His love extended beyond the chosen to everyone on Earth,

whereby spiritual Zion was born Jesus, the Son of God.

His blood was shed for all humanity, securing our rebirth,

righteousness, and eternal life through faith in Him.

NOTE

Jesus Christ is spiritual Zion to all who believe in Him, the City of God within, established forever, where joy and eternal peace are everlasting

Let everlasting joy be upon my head, for I have come to Zion. – Isa 35.19

  1. We look forward to that place of abundance even as we get a taste here and now. I will have to check out the other posts in this series, Caroline!
